Washington, Nov. 15 (CNA) The U.S. Department of Commerce said Friday that it will subsidize contract chipmaker TSMC Arizona US$6.6 billion to assist in its construction of three fabs in the state of Arizona.
Speaking at a technology-themed event EdTech Taiwan held at the Taipei World Trade Center, Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) said in a speech that the government's plan is to "make step-by-step efforts" to transform Taiwan into a "digital nation and 'smart' island."
Lin said the dome's opening ushered in a new era for Taiwan baseball, with many looking forward to an expanded schedule of games next season. In addition to sports, city officials hope the facility will connect nearby attractions such as Taipei 101, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, and a future National Railway Museum into a corridor for culture and entertainment.
〔Taiwan News〕FamilyMart Convenience Wear clothing comes to Taiwan
The FamilyMart company, headquartered in Tokyo, rolled out its own brand of clothing “Convenience Wear” at FamilyMart locations around Taiwan this past week. The clothing line, first launched in Japan in 2021, hit shelves overseas for the first time on Wednesday (Nov. 13) at 720 stores around Taiwan, reported ET Today. The clothing line currently features around 25 items including socks, underwear, scarves, and shirts.
It's been an eventful APEC for Taiwan, including a photo op for the Taiwanese envoy with U.S. President Joe Biden. But more broadly, an absence of U.S. leadership overshadowed the summit, according to some observers.
