TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Semiconductor company Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) has chosen Tainan and Kaohsiung as the locations for new R&D centers, Economics Minister Kuo Jyh-huei (郭智輝) confirmed Wednesday (Aug. 21).

The governor of Japan's Kumamoto Prefecture, Kimura Kei, has visited Taiwan in a quest to attract another TSMC semiconductor fab to his jurisdiction. Kimura made the request while visiting the company's headquarters in Hsinchu. TSMC's first facility in Kumamoto is set to start manufacturing this year while the second plant is expected go online in 2027.

The Michelin Guide has revealed its 2024 list of star-rated restaurants in Taiwan, awarding a total of 49 eateries between one and three stars. 

Taipei, Aug. 26 (CNA) A Japanese colonial-era building in Taipei's Zhongzheng District that originally housed a branch of the Tsujiri Tea Shop has been granted heritage status by a city government committee.
